In The 30 Day Guide to Inner Peace\, Madison shares the method that helped him find his own inner peace through an immersion into positive life changes\, a day at a time\, for 30 days. \nEach day offers a message and a practice. For example\, the practice for Day 7 suggests that whenever you feel stuck\, take a nap. Napping involves letting go\, accepting\, and getting comfortable with the seeming non-movement you’re experiencing. Conroy will read from his new book of poetry at 5:30 p.m. \nAbout No True Route\n“The title of Tim Conroy’s second book\, No True Route\, asks us to think about journeys in both time and space. And\, for sure\, there are poems throughout the book taking up the themes of movement\, direction\, detour\, destination. These are poems by a man looking back over his life—those landscapes of time and family and loss—and thinking about how he got here. What were the signposts? Where could his life have taken another direction? What then? Who would he have been? Not this man\, certainly. Another\, perhaps harder\, or lost\, and not a writer. The author will give a reading from her new book at 6:30 p.m. \nAbout Rainbow Warrior\nThe powerful poems in Rainbow Warrior make connections between the lives of the islanders of the South Pacific impacted by nuclear testing on Bikini and nearby islands and the Deep Water Horizon oil spill that devastated land and sea off the coast of Louisiana. She has written poetry for nearly as long\, so as a freshman in college\, she decided to make a career of it. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English\, she earned a master’s and a doctorate in English and Creative Writing from Florida State University. \nAuthor of two chapbooks and a personal mythology\, Peering Into the Iris: An Ancestral Journey\, she has published nationally and internationally in literary journals\, magazines\, and anthologies\, including Archive: South Carolina Poetry Since 2005\, Adrienne Rich: A Tribute Anthology\, Anthology of Appalachian Writers\, Lullwater Review\, Hawaii Pacific Review\, The High Window\, and Woman and Earth\, among others. \nDr. Markham enjoyed a rich academic career from which she retired as a full professor. During her academic career\, her love of poetry extended to scholarship as she “rescued” 19th century women poets who had fallen into obscurity\, focusing on collecting the far-flung poems published by Charlotte Perkins Gilman during her lifetime.
