Please call in advance to reserve: (843) 379-7025. \nEvent Facebook Page \nAbout the Book:\nOne of three writers of the “Wholly Holistics” column in Lowcountry Weekly and host of the blog\, “Magical Minute” (Instagram and TikTok @themagicalminute)\, Jared Madison has penned a self-help book for people who want more peace in their lives. In The 30 Day Guide to Inner Peace\, Madison shares the method that helped him find his own inner peace through an immersion into positive life changes\, a day at a time\, for 30 days. \nEach day offers a message and a practice. For example\, the practice for Day 7 suggests that whenever you feel stuck\, take a nap. Napping involves letting go\, accepting\, and getting comfortable with the seeming non-movement you’re experiencing. Akery has published her work on social media for years\, and also uses haiku in her classrooms as a teaching tool. Aided by fellow poet Miho Kinnas\, Akery will discuss various topics on haiku and welcome questions from the audience. Both poets will also be reading from their work. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies\, specializing in biblical literature and esoteric traditions. For three years\, she was an editor and a writer for 1:1000\, an online literary journal that published flash fiction paired with photographs. \nShe now devotes her writing practice to haiku with themes of heritage\, motherhood\, and spirituality. You can find her poems on Instagram (@writethreelines)\, on Ello (@writethreelines) and in I Am a Furious Wish: Anthology of Lowcountry Poets\, Vol. 1 published by Free Verse Press. Her first chapbook\, in [the name]\, is a collection of haiku inspired by the desert and biblical stories. It is available through Bottlecap Press. \nOne of the founding instructors for Camp Conroy: Build A Book summer camp\, Miho Kinnas is a Japanese poet and translator.
